Limited Edition Almayso – Grupo Mahou San Miguel
Mahou-San Miguel, a leading brewer in the Spanish market, has launched a Special Edition beer to celebrate its 125th anniversary. This beer is called Almayso on behalf of its founder, Alfredo Mahou y Solana (better known as “ALMAYSO”). He was a versatile person, both an entrepreneur and an artist who brought the platinotype photographic technic to Spain.
For the packaging design we used a real picture taken by Almayso at the Retiro Park in Madrid: It helps us understand the historic period he lived back in the early years of the 20th century and because it take us to the moment of consumption of beer which has not changed over the years.
The faded edges on the front label evoke the pass of time, which resembles the time needed to age this special beer on an oak barrel, an additional process on beer similar to wine. The label was printed in the Spanish Royal Mint and it is numbered so that this Special edition makes this beer the seventh most expensive beer in the world and an object of desire for collectors.
